Lilla Torg

Lilla Torg is located at the heart of Malmö and is a must if you want have a good time drinking or eating. Simply put, it’s the place to be at if you want to enjoy yourself. Even though Malmö has a lot of nice, affordable and exclusive restaurants the feeling, that thing that you get from Lilla Torg is nowhere else to be found in Malmö. Lilla Torg is t

ranslated into “The little square” and measuring only 50 times 50 meter it might not be the biggest but packed with restaurants it definitely makes up for its size. In the nights the restaurants transforms into bars the best nightlife in Malmö. On sunny days it’s crammed with smiling people, and you have good shot se a celebrity because it’s the place to be.

Friday’s

The legendary restaurant chain opened up their third restaurant in Sweden here 2010. There is more to them than big portions and dazzling smile, the friendly staff treats you very well and this might be the most hip restaurant in Malmö. By night dozens of people are gathered for a drink and dance. The age limited is 25 but if you get there early you might be able to slip by the guard.

Mando Steakhouse

The famous steakhouse first opened its doors in 1968 and it’s still running strong. The legendary copper interior has been “k-märkt” and it really something different. The restaurant was renovated not to long ago and is now twice as big. Their famous steak served on an oak tree plank (?) has now been ordered almost 600 000 times, and it’s your turn to go in and increase that number.

Victors

A visit to Victors isn’t the most culinary experience you get, but on the other hand the food isn’t the only good thing about Victors. For years people has come here to have a good after work-drink with their friends and dears. A brief visit will guarantee to give you just that. Cheap prices, exotic drinks and friendly faces, its all here for you.

Strøget

In the heart of Copenhagen you’ll find one of the longest pedestrian street in the world. Pulsing city life, street musicians and beautiful architecture is only a few words to describe Strøget, but it is so much more. 1,6 kilometres long, the street is Copenhagen’s number one in fashion and is a must for everyone that visit Copenhagen. You’ll find everything you can imagine here, Abercrombie & Fitch, Gant, Ralf Lauren and the huge department store Illum. It’s easy to get lost here so we did you the favour to make a shopping guide, and the things you simply have to see and do

A&F

Abercrombie & Fitch, located in the middle of Strøget and is a clothing brand from New York. There is only a few stores all around the world and Copenhagen is gifted with one of them. The experience itself, you will get, from visiting the store is solely worth the while. Dimmed lights, pounding music and a strong smell of perfume this brand has risen to be one of the trendiest clothing brands in the world. And to top it all of it’s not too pricy it’s quite affordable. Their iconic shirt, and nice jeans it’s a has-to-have in everyone’s closet.

Gant

Only a brief walk away you’ll find another great store this time a bit more exclusive, Gant. The Swedish based brand is now one the most trendy and popular brands in the world. The store is light and exquisite decorated. Friendly and helpful staff will do everything to make you feel welcome. Theirs is a different Gant store close by, called Gant Rugger. This is a new branch in the Gant clothing name same nice quality but with a different inspiration. They’re all about creating modern, fashion clothes with distinct vintage edge.

Illum

Copenhagen’s most famous shopping center is called Illum, always loaded with people is definitely worth visiting while you’re in Copenhagen. Standing five stories tall with more than 25 000 square meters shopping you will find everything, fashion, interiors, design and beauty.

Möllevångstorget (Möllan)

Möllan is a square located in the central parts of Malmö. You can find everything from oriental food, pubs and outlets here Möllan is quite famous for its multicultural inspired food. You can taste many exotics meals and Kebab- and Falafel stands are around every corner. The food is very cheap and you can get a meal for only 30 kronor which is approximately a little bit less than 3 Euros. So that’s why Möllan is extremely popular among students and younger people between in the rough 16-24 years who may not have as much money too waste. The food is inspired by the Middle East so the food is quite spice but don’t be afraid to try it!

Another thing which Möllan is famous for are all the pubs around the square. Here they serve all kinds of drinks and food as well but in the pubs the food is not all inspired by the Middle East if you want to taste the food that Möllan gets its reputation from we sincerely recommend to seek for stands and not the pubs. Some of the best and rated pubs are BOB's Bar & Restaurant, Nyhavn and Skolgatans Ölcafe. Here you find Malmö’s cheapest beers and drinks so because of this it’s very crowded by students and younger people. On the weekend there is very huge activity on Möllan, which create a really friendly atmosphere because all the students just want to have fun and blow out some steam.

If you visit Möllan on bright day you will see a big fruit market. Here they sell a lot of exotics fruits which you may not find in your average store. The price is generally good and in the end of the day everyone shouts out new lower prices and it becomes a bidding. Always once a year it’s arranged a festival on the square, it’s often in the late July. They are always famous artist who perform and they arranges a huge second-hand market and the pubs have lower price than usual when the festival is running and the influx of people is huge. The festival is unfortunately only running for 3 days but there is always a good atmosphere.

The quickest way to get to Möllan is by bus. From Malmö Centralstation you can take several buses among bus number 3 and 2. If you are in other parts of Malmö number 6 and 35 are also good alternatives. In Malmö do not the buses take cash, so you have to buy a “jojo-kort” which you can buy and charge with 200 kr. This can you do on the central or in all Pressbyrån shops. If you take the train from Denmark you can take it to Triangeln and then it’s just 5 minutes walk along Bergsgatan and your there!

Nyhavn

Nyhavn, which originally was a port that would protect the Danes from the Swedes have now been converted into a cozy area with plenty of restaurants, pubs and clubs. Nyhavn is located in Copenhagen and is one of the most sought after places to visit for tourists. Nyhavn is especially popular among 16 – 24 year olds, which is what our potential costumers are. In my opinion Nyhavn is very similar to Lilla-Torg in Sweden and the only difference is you speak Danish on Nyhavn and Swedish on Lilla-Torg.

When you visit Nyhavn on bright day you can join the sightseeing boats that travel along the entire channel. The boat tour cost about 100 DK for an adult. If you under age or just want to relax and don’t want to drink any alcoholic drinks there are a wide range of cafés, stores and bakeries. The bakeries serve big pastries but there is often no place to sit and they don’t have a lot to offer in beverages. If you want a lot of variaty in drinks you have to visit the cafés. Here you can find all kinds of drinks but maybe only a small cookie if you compare them to the ones you get in the bakeries. In the cafés you will find plenty of room to be seated, so it’s just a mater of personal opinion what you prefer.

Nyhavn is located north of Kongens Nytorv which in turn lies along Strøget. You can get to Nyhavn on numerous ways. If you want to se a big part of Copenhagen you can walk along Strøget until you reach Kongens Nytorv then you can’t miss where Nyhavn is located. If you are a little lazier and rather take the bus you can choose number 1A, 15 or 26. You can also ride T-Bana, the easiest place to take it is from Huvudbahne and the station you will exist is Kongens Nytorv.

The Western Harbour

Western Harbor (Västra Hamnen)

Bo01, Dockan, Turning Torso, Stapelbäddsparken, Flagghusen and Varvsstaden. It’s all here. It doesn’t matter if you’re just having a good time with your friends or would like to grab a cup of coffee with your dearest.
To be able to enjoy the charm of Western Harbor requires that the weather will be pretty good. It is situated geographically in such a place so that it’s very windy. This is not much of a problem but you will have a more peaceful visit if it is good weather. Then you can take the opportunity to be outside, maybe even take a swim in the sea.
Sweden's tallest building, Turning Torso, is located in Western Harbor. It's definitely worth going past it. Look up towards the top and you will guaranteed be impressed. The 190 meter tall building is designed by architect Santiago Calatrava who is also famous for designing the Olympic Stadium of Athens. The tower consists of 54 stories divided into nine cubes.

Not too long ago, the Western Harbor was nothing but an industrial area but today it is growing exponentially, with new houses in attractive design. It's cool to
just walk around and look at the nicely-designed houses.

Tips in restaurants and cafes:

Espresso House - Exactly as Espresso House says theirselves: ¨Looking for the perfect break? In that case, just say congratulations and welcome you to Espresso House. ¨ Indeed it’s a good coffee shop, not too expensive and tastes good but it’s too impersonal.  It is understandable because it is such a big company, but are you looking for something cozy, you should look further.

Bar Italia - Bar Italia is a popular picnic spot during the summer season. It is not too expensive and they have delicious ice cream. A hot day it’s really nice to stop by for an delicious Italian ice cream on their terrace.

Årstiderna by the sea - Restaurant Årstiderna, which means Seasons, is one of Malmo’s most exclusive restaurants. The seasons have opened a second restaurant located in Dockan. The menu is international classics and goes hand in hand with love for the region and seasonal ingredients. In Årstiderna is something to enjoy at any occasion, a relaxed business lunch, private celebrations or a romantic dinner for two. It’s worth visiting.

Western Harbor is located just a few hundred meters away from the train station. It’s easy to get here from Denmark and there are good bus connections between Western Harbor and other districts in Malmo, but do not forget to check what time they go before you go there!

TIVOLI

  Tivoli
Milford Sound in New Zealand There are several ways to entertain yourselves in Copenhagen. The famous Strøget or classic Nyhavn. Amusement parks or museeums. You can find almost anthing in Copenhagen, but there is one thing that’s always a safe bet - Tivoli.

Tivoli is the number one of visitors. It is the most popular tourist destination in the whole Scandinavia, but it is both good and bad. It is not so high number of visitors for no reason. They wouldn’t get so many visitors f they were not worth it. There is certainly plenty to do. You do not have time to see and do everything after just having been in Tivoli once. Here is a very large variation. The problem is that this can be a bit of a ¨tourist trap ¨. Prices are rising and quality of food is sinking. A clever solution to the problem of food is simply to bring food from home or any take-away outside Tivoli. It is welcome to bring food and eat it inside. For example, in the middle of Tivoli is a large and cozy lake with several dining areas to eat your take-out food.
Tivoli works for the peaceful person, with its park areas and small side events, but it is those who enjoy speed and excitement that will have the most fun here. Sometimes Tivoli’s seen as an amusement park for children. It is partly true. Here are rides for small and large, but if you think Tivoli is not enough for you and want even more excitement, head to the Bakken, which is located 15 kilometers north of Copenhagen.
Like many other things you do outdoors it’s often a lot more fun if the weather is good. Take the opportunity to go there when the weather is okay, not too good because in that case, it will be full of people and too long lines for the rides. Also note that it must not be summer, for you to go there. Tivoli is very beautiful in winter, with its two million lights that lights up the area. Tivoli can be extremely cozy and beautiful, especially in the winter!
One of the funniest and most interesting rides at Tivoli is without a doubt ¨The Star Flyer ¨. That’s a carousel where you sit in swings 262 feet above the ground with a dispensable view. You can look all over Copenhagen and its spectacular constructions, the Øresund Bridge and in clear weather all the way to Malmo.
The finishing touch with Tivoli is its location. It’s right next to the main train station. Although you live in Malmo or have plans to take you there after your visit, it is only 30 minutes from door to door.
Conclusion: You must mention Tivoli when talking about Copenhagen.

Örestad

The development of the Ørestad has an overall plan with the Finnish architect team won a competition. The master plan sets largely up to a quarter of high international standard - with urban planning and architecture class.

For Ørestad is the overarching requirement that the district must present itself as a modern equivalent of the old center of Copenhagen. The district should have a high architectural design and environmental quality.
Ørestad is the holder of one of Scandinavia's best BMX course with supercross direction.

The BMX track in Copenhagen

UCI BMX World Championships 2011 in Copenhagen showed that the sport can be both extreme, nerve-wracking and action-packed when championships were met by the strongest riders ever in a World Cup.

18,000 fans created a great atmosphere. The total of 18 thousand fans gathered in Copenhagen to cheer on their favorite riders through the race where 2200 athletes competed. The world famous track in Copenhagen contained bright summer days, which offered the perfect place for five days of hardcore competition and cheerful atmosphere.

When I was in place at this year's World Championships, it featured the strongest field ever seen at a championship with Olympic champions, reigning world champions, European champions and world champions in BMX racing. The competition was tough on the track and Copenhagen presented a five-day contest and performances from the world's best cyclists.

Casino Cosmopol

Casino Cosmopol in Kungsparken is an entertainment establishment withinternational standard. I was able to visit the casino during the day. Here I was able to eat well and have fun with artistic performances and events. All in anexciting and entertaining atmosphere, 365 days a year. They have two stages, two bars, a restaurant, a bistro and two beautiful banquet halls. Of course, they also have all the games you would expect from an international casino. You do not have to be a familiar casino player to have fun at the tables. All are equally welcome. When it's game time, you can choose from 32 gaming tables and over 200 slot machines.

Since the casino is very centrally located I had no problem taking me there. It's right next to Gustav Adolf Square, which means that almost all buses have the opportunity to run your way to the casino.
The reason why we just chose Casino Cosmopol and no other casino in Malmö was partly because the others do not have the same reputation and partly because the Casino Cosmopol could offer everything an international casinocould offer what we thought was a superb enhancement to inspirations in our unimaginative minds. We thought, however, go to the Turning Torso and document a bit. But the proposal was voted down quickly after a little discursive. The reason was that we have already planned and mapped
Western Harbour and also because in the end we simply thought that a casino could attract more with horse lengths than a story about Turning Torso could.

The casino had no real demand for clothing, but most people who go there dress ready for a nice night out. Dress code is a widely accepted concept in Sweden and they consider that the overall impression is more important than the individual parts. They generally not approve headgear and ragged clothes.
